1 dead following rollover accident in Staten Island

Man dies in a rollover accident in the Manor Heights Neighborhood in Staten Island 

A  yet to be identified individual has died following injuries suffered after the sports car the victim was operating crashed into a Staten Island high school, overturned, and caught fire on Tuesday night, November 23, 2021, in the Manor Heights Neighborhood in Staten Island, New York.

At about 11:40 p.m. authorities received information concerning a deadly collision that happened which resulted in the car bursting into flames on Manor Road in the Manor Heights neighborhood. Authorities arrived at the location and found the 2020 Dodge Challenger overturned and in flames. The male driver of the Challenger was extricated from the car and declared deceased at the scene of the crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the car was heading southbound on Manor Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the car, exited the roadway, and slammed the wall of the Susan E. Wagner High School, overturned and caught fire. The school did not suffer any structural damage, says authorities.

Investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the crash is requested to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
